Negroponte Orders
Department of Defense to Send US Troops to Invade Mexico, Probably
Those of us who have traveled to
Mexico all our lives, native Texans, know there is some serious manipulating
going on when it comes to this so called Mexican drug war. Mexico has always
been a peaceful country. For Mexico to now have drug wars means some force out
there wants a war in Mexico for their own agenda.
Logic
dictates the bad guys, Rothschilds, Rockefellers and
John Negroponte, are manipulating Mexico's bloodshed. There are many reasons
a non manipulated drug war makes no sense. Big George and the bad guys have
been bringing drugs in this country for years from ports of entry all around
the United States. The bad guys stash their drugs in Cuba before bringing them
to the states. That's why the bad guys will not let us visit Cuba. Mexico was
not and has not been a big player in bringing drugs in the USA. Drug use in
the USA is not increasing. If drugs were flowing in this country to the degree
or more so than they are now, say ten years ago, and there were no Mexican drug
wars then, why are there Mexican drug wars now? They're not drug wars now. US
clandestine operatives are murdering Mexicans and blaming their murders on drug
dealers. Its a scam. A Negroponte con. The drug wars in Mexico are Negroponte
bad guy manufactured and a front for the bad guys making war on Mexico as they
make Mexico a communi$t police state. Its an excuse to send US military troops
to Mexico to do who knows what in clandestine operations. Set up Abu Grahaib
prisons? You bet cha.
John Negroponte was Ambassador to
Mexico, 1989 - 1993. Where Negroponte goes, civil strife and war follow. The
United States sending military troops to Mexico amounts to an invasion of Mexico
for the sole reason to take over Mexico, murder non communi$t$, control its
government, and steal Mexico's money.
You
can go to the bank knowing Blackwater
is in Mexico as I type murdering Mexicans. One and a half million civilians
have been murdered in Iraq since comrade Little George directed the United States
to invade Iraq, many of Iraqi killed by Blackwater. Of course John Negroponte
was Ambassador to Iraq, 2004-2005, as well. Where Negroponte goes, a communi$t
police state follows. Manufactured strife is how the Rothschilds steal countries,
imprison its people, torture them Abu Grahaib style. The Rothschilds come up
with some sort of excuse to kill people in the country it sets out to topple.
In Iraq, Blackwater played Sunni and Shiites against one another. In Mexico
Negroponte is ordering Blackwater to murder under the scam of a drug war. The
bottom line is Negroponte is manipulating a so called Mexican drug war to come
up with an excuse for the US army to invade Mexico. Is Negroponte ordering his
operatives to murder women and children and nuns. Yep. The bigger Negroponte's
crimes against humanity the better, as far as the Rothschilds and Rockefellers
are concerned. When one gets to the bottom of the murdering in Mexico, drugs
are a small part of the problem. The real problem are secrete US forces murdering
rich Mexicans, nuns, women and children, non communi$t$, and those in government
who believe in civil rights. All this Negroponte bad guy murdering is for the
sole purpose of making Mexico a communi$t country owned by the Rothschilds and
Rockefellers. If you like Mexico's murdering and killing now, you will love
Mexico's murdering and killing after John Negroponte's sends US military forces
there. Its about time for me to start spending some time in Mexico. If Mexicans
hate my guts when I start traveling Mexico, I know it will be because Negroponte
is having Mexican women and children murdered for no reason. Sixty one years
ago when I was two my mother took me to Mexico for the summer, and I have been
going back to Mexico frequently ever since. Never have I been attacked or treated
rudely by Mexicans. If things have now changed and I do feel threatened while
traveling in Mexico it will be for a reason. John Negroponte is having Mexicans
murdered for no reason and they are furious and taking their anger out on Americans
traveling in Mexico.
communi$m is nothing more than an inside job. John Negroponte is a communi$t working for the Rothschilds and Rockefellers to turn the United States into a communi$t police state. John Negroponte was our first Director of National Intelligence (2005–2007). On February 17, 2005, President George W. Bush named Negroponte as the first Director of National Intelligence, (DNI), a cabinet-level position charged with coordinating the nation’s Intelligence Community [10]. So you don't have to ask, Negroponte has formed death squads in the United States and they will do here what they have done for Negroponte all over the world. Snipers murdering Blacks and blaming it one Whites. Gangs sent loose. Not only gangs set loose, but infiltrated, trained, and told who to murder. Snipers murdering Whites and blaming it on Blacks. All the tools Negroponte has used over and over all over the world to bring in the military and install Martial Law in this country or that country. It is important for Negroponte to get US troops in Mexico to link up with other military forces Negroponte has built in Central and South America to invade the United States. Negroponte and the bad guys plan to invade the United States and our US military are part of the plan. It success is based on big lies and propaganda. The bad guys tell us Mexico is in a drug war and we do not take the time to question their lies. How can the United States put military troops in Mexico? It can't legally. Putting US military troops in Mexico is the same as invading Mexico. Its unConstitutional, treason, and it violates International Law. What Negroponte wants to do in Mexico is the same thing Gates is doing in Pakistan when Gates orders drones to bomb women and children in Pakistan.
But Negroponte most fun is going to be Holocausting Jewish people. Jewish people will not suspect a Jewish person like Negroponte murdering them. They are wrong. The Rothschilds are responsible for Holocaust I and the Rothschilds will be responsible for Holocaust II. Negroponte will play a big role in the Rothschilds Holocausting Jewish people a second time. Wait and see.

US
Mulls DoD Aid to Mexico in Drug War
January 30, 2009
El Paso Times
EL PASO, Texas -- The deadly street shootings, decapitations and other killings in Juarez are taking place at a higher pace than at the same time last year even as talk of a drug cartel truce has increased along with the U.S. role on Mexican soil.
The number of homicides in the Juarez area has surged past 130 already this month, according to an El Paso Times tally, an increase over the 37 homicides recorded by Chihuahua state investigators in January 2008. Last year, 1,609 homicides occurred.
Juarez is considered the current murder capital of Mexico, but killings have also flared across the state of Chihuahua and in other parts of Mexico.
The Dallas Morning News, citing anonymous sources, reported that if the bloodbath escalates, U.S. officials are contemplating the possibility of an enhanced U.S. role in battling Mexican drug cartels, including joint operations with Mexican forces and the involvement of U.S. contractors, military and intelligence personnel.
Mexico historically has resisted any type of interference by the U.S. on its territory, but it has allowed U.S. law enforcement agencies to have offices in Mexican cities. Mexico has also recently cooperated with the U.S. and has extradited drug traffickers to the U.S.
The U.S. has had agents in Mexico for several decades, including the U.S. Marshals Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI, which share intelligence with Mexican authorities.
The FBI has offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Hermosillo and Tijuana and a suboffice in Monterrey, according to the bureau's Web site. The DEA has offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Mazatlan, Merida, Monterrey, Tijuana and Juarez.
U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said that the U.S. is trying to help Mexico fight the violence and that Mexican President Felipe Cal deron told the U.S. during a meeting recently in Washington, D.C., that 93 percent of the people killed in the crime wave are connected to drug cartels.
"The only thing I want to say is that the situation is very serious and very critical," Reyes said. "It is a danger because the cartels are fighting among each other, and the Calderon administration has decided to take on this issue of the cartels and criminal gangs.
"It is not helpful when people talk about this potential agreement that may or may not be taking place with Mexico. Obviously, the less that is said about that the better. I regret people speculating like they were in that story in the Dallas Morning News -- that doesn't help the effort. That continues to stir up the concerns (and) the mistrust that exist in that situation."
The violence among the drug cartels may eventually be settled by the cartels themselves.
On Dec. 11, representatives of several drug cartels met at a seafood restaurant in Culiacan, Sinaloa, to form a truce because the fighting is interfering with the regular business of narco-trafficking, the Rio Doce weekly in Sinaloa reported earlier this month.
The Rio Doce report stated that the gathering included representatives of reputed drug lords Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, the Beltran Leyva brothers, Vicente Carrillo Fuentes of the Juarez cartel and the Arrellano Felix family of Tijuana.
The deal among cartels reportedly is supposed to be reviewed today.
Meanwhile, the slayings continue in Juarez.
Eleven homicides occurred in Juarez on Sunday, seven on Monday, six on Tuesday and nine on Wednesday. And on Thursday, at least six men had been killed by the evening, including an unidentified man found tied up and stabbed to death not far from the new U.S. Consulate, state police said.
Murders spurred by drug cartel war, along with a rise in extortion, kidnappings, bank robberies and auto thefts across the state of Chihuahua, were the topic of a meeting Thursday among law enforcement and government officials in Chihuahua City.
Chihuahua Gov. Jose Reyes Baeza said in a statement that authorities have to come up with "extraordinary resources" to find a way to safeguard banks and industrial and commercial sites.
"We have to set a goal for ourselves in the year 2009 to a substantial decrease in bank robberies, for example," Reyes Baeza said. "We cannot have another year like 2008."
The violence in Juarez has continued for more than a year despite additions to the local police force and the deployment of an estimated 2,000 soldiers and federal police to the city.
In Chihuahua City on Tuesday night, two police officers were shot and killed a few blocks apart in the state capital city's downtown. State police said Gerardo Olivas Almanza, 26, was killed when gunmen fired at his patrol vehicle, and officer Luis Aguilar Larrazolo, 39, was shot to death a few blocks away.
The police shootings were in addition to six men killed in various slayings that same day in the Chihuahua City area.
An Obama Executive
Order Is Designed to Keep US Citizens Terrorists, Enemy Combatants, Without
Our Civil Rights
As Jacob G. Hornberger explains in his article,Obama and the al-Marri Case, the Bush Administration, "From 9/11 forward, the president wielded the power to take any American into custody as an enemy combatant terrorist and treat him accordingly — waterboarding, isolation, indefinite incarceration, etc. No jury trial. No Bill of Rights. No Constitution." This new presidential power given by Little George to himself allowed him, the president, to call us terrorists, declare us, Enemy Combatants without Civil rights. So far, until comrade Little George slimmed off the scene, the Bush Administration through legal maneuvering had been able to keep the US Supreme Court from ruling on the Padilla case and thus this illegal presidential order which eliminated our Civil Rights is still in force.
Obama's nearly first Executive Order
keeps Bush's game of keeping the US Supreme Court away from ruling on comrade
Little George's illegal Presidential Executive Order, which makes US citizens
terrorists, enemy combatants, without civil rights, going. Obama is keeping
Little George's scam going when Obama ordered the Justice Department to review
the case of Ali Saleh al-Marri. Ali Saleh al-Marri's case is headed for the
US Supreme Court. Logic dictates, since Obama has been put in Office by the
Rothschilds and Rockefellers, as was comrade Little George, Obama does not want
al-Marri's case heard by the US Supreme Court, just as Bush did not want al-Marri's
case heard by the US Supreme Court, both presidents bad guy puppets. The communi$t$'
game is to keep the al-Marri case away from the US Supreme Court, even if it
means dropping the case against al-Marri. Bush got the Fourth Circuit Court
of Appeals to rule against Padilla, and the American people have been terrorists,
enemy combatants, without Civil Rights, ever since. The bad guys, including
Obama, do not want the Civil Rights of the American people returned to them
by the US Supreme Court. This is why one of Obama's first Executive Orders ordered
the Justice Department to review the al-Marri case. Logic dictates it will be
reviewed so legal maneuvering will take place so the al-Marri case does not
go to the US Supreme Court.

Obama
and the al-Marri Case
by Jacob G. Hornberger
Among the executive orders President Obama issued upon assuming the presidency was one ordering the Justice Department to review the case of Ali Saleh al-Marri, a case that involves the enemy-combatant doctrine in terrorism cases that the U.S. government assumed after the 9/11 attacks. (For an extensive discussion of the importance of the al-Marri case, see “The al-Marri Case Affects Us All.”)
Here’s the issue in the al-Marri case. Prior to the 9/11 attacks, it was a well-established legal doctrine that terrorism is a crime. It’s listed in the federal criminal code as a criminal offense. Suspected terrorists have always been indicted and prosecuted in federal district court as criminals.
After the 9/11 attacks, however, and without even the semblance of a constitutional amendment, the Bush administration announced that the federal government would have the option of treating terrorism as either a crime or an act of war.
Many Americans cheered this assumption of power, some of them not realizing that it also applied to Americans. From 9/11 forward, the president wielded the power to take any American into custody as an enemy combatant terrorist and treat him accordingly — waterboarding, isolation, indefinite incarceration, etc. No jury trial. No Bill of Rights. No Constitution.
The president and the military applied the newly assumed enemy-combatant power to Jose Padilla, an American citizen, and to al-Marri, a citizen of Qatar, both of whom were arrested on American soil, which is considered part of the battlefield in the worldwide fight against terrorism.
The enemy-combatant power was upheld in the Padilla case by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, arguably the most conservative circuit in the nation. When Padilla was appealing that decision to the Supreme Court, the government suddenly and unexpectedly exercised its option to treat Padilla as a criminal defendant instead of as an enemy combatant. That clever legal maneuvering deprived the Supreme Court of ruling on the matter, leaving the Fourth Circuit’s decision intact. That decision could, of course, be relied upon if the government were to begin rounding up Americans during some major crisis in the future.
Al-Marri was being prosecuted in federal district court for criminal offenses when the federal government exercised its post-9/11 option to convert him to enemy-combatant status. On the government’s motion, the federal judge dismissed the criminal indictment — “with prejudice” — and al-Marri was whisked away to the same military dungeon in South Carolina where Padilla had been incarcerated as an enemy combatant. That’s where al-Marri has been for the past six years.
When the al-Marri case reached the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, not surprisingly the court once again upheld the enemy-combatant power. Al-Marri appealed and the Supreme Court recently accepted the case. Al-Marri has filed his appellate brief and the government’s brief is now pending. That’s where the case now sits.
The course that Obama and the Justice Department select will undoubtedly have major ramifications for the American people. While those ramifications might be positive in the short run, they might well be negative and ominous in the long run.
One option would be to simply transfer al-Marri to the federal courts for prosecution, thereby treating his offenses as crimes rather than as acts of war. If they do that, then the Supreme Court will be once again be deprived of the opportunity to firmly and unequivocally strike down the enemy-combatant doctrine. The Fourth Circuit decision upholding the doctrine will remain intact, ready to be relied upon whenever some future president decides to begin rounding up Americans in the midst of a big crisis. In other words, transferring al-Marri to the federal courts will result in the same situation as when U.S. officials transferred Padilla to the federal courts.
Transferring al-Marri to the federal courts for prosecution, however, could be problematic for prosecutors. Why? Because prosecutors would be barred from charging al-Marri with the same charges that formed the subject of the initial indictment against him. That’s because a dismissal “with prejudice” is a final adjudication of those charges under the double-jeopardy provisions of the Constitution.
Another option would be to simply release al-Marri. That again would mean that the Supreme Court would not review the case, thereby leaving the Fourth Circuit decision intact.
Another option would be to ask the Fourth Circuit to vacate its decision and enter a new judgment in favor of al-Marri. That option is problematic, however, because while a court will vacate a particular decision based on an agreement of the parties, that doesn’t mean it will enter a new and different opinion in the case. That is, while the Fourth Circuit might well vacate its decision in response to a request from the government, the possibility that the court will enter a new opinion that effectively says, “We were wrong about the enemy combatant doctrine” is nil.
Thus, unless the government proceeds forward with the al-Marri case, the Supreme Court will be denied the opportunity to reverse the Fourth Circuit’s decision upholding the enemy-combatant doctrine. Yet, it is difficult to believe that given its purported intention to move America in a different direction with respect to civil liberties, the Obama administration will in good conscience be able to proceed forward and ask the Court to uphold al-Marri’s detention.
The final option would be to ask the Supreme Court to enter a decision and opinion overruling the Fourth Circuit decision and striking down the enemy-combatant power. That, however, that option is problematic because the courts do not enter advisory opinions. The court is more likely to say to the government: If you believe that, then you have your remedy — release him or transfer him to the federal courts.
Thus, while al-Marri might well come out the winner in all this, the likelihood is that the American people and their freedom will come out the loser because that ominous Fourth Circuit opinion upholding the enemy-combatant power will remain intact for use by some future president in the midst of some major crisis.

Michael Steele Elected Chairman of the GOP Proves the Rothschilds and Rockefellers Control the Republican Party Too
Does
it make sense that Barack Obama is president of the United States? Nope. The
USA is a racist country with possibly 10% of persons holding elected office
being minorities. So it makes no sense Obama was elected president, not to mention
that both of Obama's parents were not US citizens so Obama is not even eligible
to be president. So how did it happen? The Rothschilds and Rockefellers made
Obama president through propaganda and owning the members of the US Congress.
The United States spends $ 1.5 trillion dollars each year. The Rothschilds and
Rockefellers feel it is money well spent if it buy the members of the US Congress
for a few billion if they get the $ 1.5 trillion do what they choose in exchange.
Talk about Affirmative Action. The Rothschilds and Rockefellers are the biggest
recipients of Affirmative Action in the history of the world. They own our banking
system and have made trillions off it tax free. What do the bad guys have
in store for the American people with Obama as president? Nothing good for sure.
Probably Iran attacked which will cause a World War between the West and India,
China, and Russia ending up with a near dying planet living in a Rothschild
Rockefeller directed communi$t police state.
Back to the election of Michael Steele Chairman of the GOP? Make sense when 75 % of Americans are not minorities? Nope. Except for the fact the Rothschilds and Rockefellers own the Republicans who voted Steele his Republican Party Chairmanship. Probably when the bad guys make Obama do his horrible stuff to America, the bad guys want to make sure voters had only the choice of bailing out to another minority in charge of the Republican Party. People might say well the only way to get rid of racism is to make the US President and the Chairman of the opposing party a minorities. So what if Obama and Steele gained their positions by rigging the process and propaganda, it was a necessary rigging, so say the communi$t$. Well that would be nice, putting minorities in charge, if good came of it. But we are talking Rothschilds and Rockefellers arranging for Obama and Steele victories, and the Rothschilds and Rockefellers are the guys behind the Holocaust, AIDS, drugs, Abu Grahaib, and too many evils to even list. Logic dictates the Rothschilds and Rockefellers have put Obama and Steele in office not to cure racism, but to make racism worse and to use racism as a tool to cause a Civil War in the USA which will lead to the total abandonment of the US Constitution in favor of Martial Law and a communi$t dictatorship running the USA. Remember also there is John Negroponte behind the scenes and where Negroponte lurks violence and murder follow. What if Negroponte has hired Blackwater to do in the USA what Blackwater did in Iraq? What if Blackwater operatives murder Blacks and blame their deaths and murder on Whites, and them murder Whites and blame their deaths on Obama, Steele and Blacks?
There are many scenarios out their with Obama as President and Steele as Chairman of the Republican which are totally racist and not good for the Untied States. I hope I am wrong but I have been right on target on the economic meltdown and many other of my predictions. It is my guess I will be right on Obama and Steele as well. One thing I am sure. There is no way Steele would be Chairman of the Republican Party unless the Rothschilds and Rockefellers told the Republicans they own to make Steele Chairman.
I Ching - What is the significance of Michael Steele becoming Chairman of the Republican Party?
38 Disharmony - means mutual opposition. True illumination obscured. Artificial understanding emerges. Changes to 35 Advance - Producing understanding by receptivity. Progress.

Steele:
GOP Does Not Have A Message Problem
February 1, 2009 10:54 AM
Pressed by Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, Steele diagnosed the GOP ills as a problem of the messenger but not the message -- he even suggested that the party should look back to New Gingrich's Contract With America for inspiration.
"We failed to lead," said the former Lt. Maryland Governor. "The principles we espoused [in 1994] are still true and good today and that's not what people moved away from us for. They moved away from us because we behaved badly. We came to Washington and we became like the people we were sent here to replace. And they replaced us."
That mindset extended itself throughout the conversation on policy and politics, where Steele did little to distance himself from the issues that defined the GOP's poor showing in recent elections. He put forward Gov. Sarah Palin's name -- among others -- as the future of Republican leadership. And on immigration, he pledged "no change in the position on the party..."
"The GOP position is secure our borders first," he added. "Let us know and let us make sure the American people know that we've taken care of the important business of dealing with the illegal immigration into this country."
Steele also restated his support for a constitutional ban on gay marriage, and
applauded the united GOP front to the stimulus bill currently making its way
through Congress. He brushed off concerns that the party would look like obstructionists
if not one member supported the president's plan.
"The Republican Congress did a great job in drawing the line," he said. "I hope the Senate will follow."
There were aspects of the program where Steele discussed the need to forge a different path for the GOP. He talked openly about his work with the centrist Republican Leadership Council, and -- more broadly -- about the need to recruit moderates back into the party tent. At one point, he highlighted poverty and education reform as two issues that could be new areas of focus for the party.
But mainly the ten minutes Steele spent on the show were aimed at propping up
the Republican brand as it currently exists -- the byproduct of the race he
just ran, in which he largely played down his more moderate roots in favor of
positioning himself as a conservative standard-bearer.
"For those Democrats who want
to put up road blocks, the name calling and the obfuscation," Steele said
early on, "I don't have time for it."

Obama bid to suspend Gitmo proceedings hits snag
Military judge rejects Obama bid to stall Guantanamo trial against Cole bombing suspect
MIKE MELIA and ANDREW O. SELSKY
AP News
Jan 30, 2009 04:09 EST
President Barack Obama's plan to suspend proceedings against Guantanamo detainees hit a snag when a military judge said it would be unreasonable to delay a hearing for the alleged mastermind of the USS Cole bombing.
Thursday's ruling by the judge, Army Col. James Pohl, creates an unexpected challenge for the new administration as it reviews how America puts suspected terrorists on trial.
Pohl said his decision was difficult but necessary to protect "the public interest in a speedy trial." The ruling came in the case against Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. The bombing of the Navy destroyer in 2000 in the harbor of Aden, Yemen, killed 17 U.S. sailors.
Obama has ordered the detention center in Cuba to be closed within a year. The administration asked last week for a 120-day suspension in proceedings against some 20 detainees as it considers whether to continue trying alleged terrorists in the military commissions, revamp them or try suspects in other courts.
Obama signed an executive order directing Defense Secretary Robert Gates to ensure that "all proceedings of such military commissions to which charges have been referred but in which no judgment has been rendered ... are halted."
But Pohl wrote in his ruling that "on its face, the request to delay the arraignment is not reasonable."
The judge's decision seemed to take the Pentagon and White House by surprise.
"We are consulting with the Pentagon and the Department of Justice to explore our options in the case," said White Press secretary Robert Gibbs, adding that he doubted the decision would hamper the administration's ability to decide how to move forward from Guantanamo.
The Department of Defense is reviewing Judge Pohl's ruling, said Navy Cmdr. Jeffrey Gordon, a Pentagon spokesman.
Geoff Morrell, another Pentagon spokesman, told reporters that there were "no ifs, ands or buts" about adhering to the president's executive order and that there would "be no proceedings continuing down at Gitmo with military commissions."
"The bottom line is, we all work for the president of the United States in this chain of command, and he has signed an executive order which has made abundantly clear that until these reviews are done all of this is on hiatus," Morrell said.
The American Civil Liberties Union urged Gates to put a halt to the proceedings by withdrawing the charges against al-Nashiri.
"Judge Pohl's decision to move forward despite a clear statement from the president also raises questions about Secretary of Defense Gates — is he the 'new Gates' or is he the same old Gates under a new president?" ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said. "Secretary Gates has the power to stop the military commissions and ought to follow his new boss' directives."
The Cole's former commanding officer, retired Navy Cmdr. Kirk Lippold, said the case "needs to go forward" at Guantanamo. He said Pohl's ruling validated the war-crimes trials by demonstrating the independence of the military judges.
"The families involved want to see al-Nashiri held accountable for his heinous acts," Lippold said in an interview.
Navy Lt. Cmdr. Stephen Reyes, the Pentagon-appointed attorney for al-Nashiri, said the decision gives the Obama administration few options.
"The next step, if the government wants to halt the proceedings, is to withdraw the charges," Reyes said.
"Now it's in the government's hands," he said. "I have no idea what they're going to do."
Pohl is the chief judge at the tribunals at the U.S. Navy base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. At least two other judges have already granted the continuance sought by the president, with the defense and prosecution agreeing in both cases that they should be suspended.
Pohl noted that no substantive legal issues would be litigated at al-Nashiri's arraignment, scheduled for Feb. 9, meaning that "nothing will be mooted or necessary for relitigation" if Obama scraps the tribunals.
The war crimes court came to an abrupt halt Jan. 21 after two other military judges granted Obama's request for a suspension. His executive order came the following day in Washington.
Those cases were against a Canadian accused of killing a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan and five men charged in the Sept. 11 attacks.
In all, war crimes charges are pending against 21 men at Guantanamo. Before Obama became president, the U.S. said it planned to try dozens of detainees in a system that was created by George W. Bush and Congress in 2006 and has faced repeated challenges.

Abrams to Parachute to Council on
Foreign Relations
January 26, 2009 in Neocons by Jim Lobe | 20 comments
I guess this is breaking news on which I hope to have more to write later (I have a deadline on reporting Obama’s greenhouse-related announcements today), but I just confirmed that Elliott Abrams, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Near East and North African Affairs since December 2002 and Deputy National Security Adviser for Global Democracy Strategy since 2005 will begin work as a Senior Fellow at the new Washington offices (one block away from his old one) of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in mid-February. Abrams, the highest-ranking neo-conservative left in the Bush administration when it finally decamped last week, served, along with help from Dick Cheney’s office, as the bureaucratic foil for former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s to give some momentum to the Annapolis peace process; tried to persuade the Israelis to widen their 2006 war against Hezbollah to include Syria; and no doubt steadfastly encouraged the Olmert government to pursue its Gaza war as vigorously and as long as possible. To the extent that U.S. influence in the Middle East has diminished, Abrams can claim a good share of the credit. And his strategy to spread democracy globally (and especially in the Middle East) appears to have prospered in a similar fashion.
